Kendra Wilkinson’s 55-pound weight loss in 5 months due to ketogenic Atkins diet – National Celebrity Fitness and Health

Kendra Wilkinson Baskett’s 55-pound weight loss was due to low carb ketogenic Atkins diet

Kendra Wilkinson Baskett lost 55 pounds just five months after giving birth to her second child, thanks to the low carb, ketogenic-style Atkins diet. The 5-foot-4 Wilkinson, whose pre-pregnancy weight was 120 pounds, tipped the scales at 175 pounds during her second pregnancy.

“During my pregnancy, I started at 120 and ended up at 175,” Kendra told E! “I researched the perfect diet for after the baby. I love meat, I love vegetables. [Atkins is] low-carb and it’s working so good.”

Wilkinson, who gave birth to daughter Alijah Mary in May 2014, is now at her pre-baby weight, although she’s still dieting and exercising to get toned.

Another celebrity mother who lost a dramatic amount of weight on the low carb Atkins diet was Kim Kardashian, who shed 56 pounds in six months on a ketogenic-style Atkins diet that limited her daily carb intake to less than 60 grams.

Similarly, NBA superstar LeBron James recently lost 25 pounds in 67 days by following a low carb ketogenic style Paleo diet. The 6-foot-8 James said he feels great and is lighter on his feet as a result.

Low carb diets such as the Atkins, Paleo and ketogenic plans promote rapid weight loss by forcing the body to burn fat for fuel, said obesity expert Dr. Eric Westman, co-author of Keto Clarity.

Kendra, a longtime workout fanatic, said she was surprised how hard it was to shed the 55 pounds of baby weight. “I’m an athlete, so I thought I would lose the weight so fast right after having the baby, but I didn’t,” said Wilkinson, who also has a four-year-old son, Hank Baskett IV. “I learned the pounds don’t just shed off. You have to go on a diet and really take care of your body.”

In June (one month after she gave birth), Wilkinson’s world was rocked amid reports that her husband, former NFL star Hank Baskett, had cheated on her with a transsexual model. The news was all over the tabloids, and the ensuing drama was captured on her reality TV show, “Kendra on Top.”

Wilkinson said she still doesn’t know if the affair rumors are true, but said the past few months have been extremely difficult. “I really don’t know what to believe,” she said. “But this is real life. It’s been the hardest four months of my life.”

In response to speculation that the alleged cheating scandal was a ploy to boost ratings for her TV show, Wilkinson said she agreed to have the drama captured on film because she was afraid to deal with the ordeal on her own.

“I agreed to shoot the show because being alone at the moment was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life,” said Kendra. “The producers came to me, and were hugging and holding me. They asked, ‘Do you want to film this?’ I said, ‘Bring the cameras to me. I can’t be alone right now.’ “

On Sept. 29, Wilkinson thanked fans on Twitter for their support, writing: “Just wanted to say thank you for all the support. This has been the most challenging 4 months of my life, and I’ve been focusing on being the best me I can be, for myself and for my babies.

“While some moments are sacred, fact is… I’ve lived my life in front of cameras for the last 10 years, so I chose to allow cameras to tell even the hard stories. I don’t think it’s fair or truthful to only show the good and not the bad.

I don’t have all the answers, but like you, I’m a mother, a wife, a daughter and a woman, and struggles are a part of life and I am not afraid to admit that my life is not perfect. Thank you for the love… I’ve missed you all!
